February 20, 2008 How Can A Professional Team be So Lousy and be Worth So Much? Well growing up in Toronto, l fell in love with the Toronto Maple Leafs also know as the blue and white, for their colours. I have watched this team all of my life. They have not won the Stanley Cup since 1967, if anyone is counting, that is exactly 41 years ago. The most impressive thing about this team, yes they do have one. It is almost impossible to get a ticket to a Leaf Game. The team holds the record, for all of the Major League Teams in consecutive sell outs, no other franchise even comes close to this remarkable feat. Yet the team is at the bottom of the league, and leads all of the categories for all of the wrong reasons. -Fewest Goals Scored.
-Most goals allowed by a team.
-Worst power play.
-Worst penalty kill and on and on. But they sell out each and every game that they play. Where they do extremely well is at the box office. Let me give you a few examples of what l am talking about. -The most expensive seats in the league, with a Licence fee if your a season ticket holder.
-Rail Seats (Up against the Glass) sell for $440.00 per ticket
-Cheapest Ticket in the house is Standing Room, not even a seat, sell for $39.00 per ticket.
-One Larger Beer $11.75
-Roast Beef Sandwich no fries, no drink $13.75 plus a tip......
-Pre game program $6.00
-Parking, if you can found a spot $25.00
-Should l go on, no need to, you get the picture.. This is the part where l am not at all surprised with. This team is the most expensive team in the National Hockey League, their value is at a cool $480 million dollars. Did you say you also wanted to buy the Air Canada Center, not part of the package oh by the way they also own the Toronto Raptors of the NBA, FC Toronto, professional soccer club along with the BMO where they play out of. The Toronto Marlies of the AHL as well is their arena the Richo Center. The true Value of this organization is well over a billion dollars. How can an average family take their kids to see a game........Dad and mom would need to take out a small loan or a large loan depending on what you wanted to and watch. Oh yes and where you would want to sit at the arena.

Now my question to all "YOU" sport fans, who enjoys taking his kids to the odd game, when you review some of the prices. How can an average working person afford to take his kids to a game........When l went to my first game the worst tickets in the house, cost $2.00. My dad was having heart failure over the amount he spent on us.
